COINATLANTIC AND PUBLISHING INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET
The COINAtlantic Geocontent Generator (CGG) is a free online utility that allows users to generate and publish files on the internet that may describe an organization, project, publication or data with an embedded polygon showing the geographic area of interest. Publishing files with the CGG utility facilitates their discovery by the Google search engine. The CGG is part of the COINAtlantic Internet Visibility Initiative (CIVI) to assist organizations to enhance the visibility of their information on the internet. CALL FOR PAPERS: COASTAL ZONE CANADA 2012
The Coastal Zone Canada Association will hold the 10th biennial International Coastal Zone Canada (CZC) Conference on 9-14 June 2012 in Rimouski, Québec, Canada. The conference theme is 'Time for Action!' CZC 2012 will review the progress made in recent decades, examine promising approaches for addressing new challenges and explore a dynamic, proactive and participatory vision of oceans and integrated coastal zone management. 23 December 2011 is the deadline for submitting abstracts and proposals for sessions. SEAFLOOR RELIEF MAPS OF THE BAY OF FUNDY
Shaded seafloor relief maps of the Bay of Fundy have been released by the Geological Survey of Canada. Seventeen 1:50 000 scale maps cover the entire Bay. The maps are based on the multibeam sonar surveys conducted between 1993 and 2009 to map 13 010 square kilometres of the seafloor. Contact

CANADA'S TOP RESEARCH QUESTIONS FOR OCEAN SCIENCE
The Council of Canadian Academies invites Canadian experts in ocean science to participate in a survey to help determine Canada's Top Research Questions for Ocean Science. You are asked to identify up to three priority research questions that should be the focus of Canadian ocean science research in the coming decades. Please read the specific requirements for your input before entering your questions available on page 2 of the survey. The survey itself will take no more than five minutes to complete once you have decided upon the research questions to submit and must be completed by 9 December 2011 - http://oceanscience.environics.ca.
SUSTAINABLE GROUNDFISH FISHERIES IN CANADA
The Fisheries Resource Conservation Council (FRCC) has released its report titled "Towards Recovered and Sustainable Groundfish Fisheries in Eastern Canada". The report provides guidance for promoting the recovery of groundfish stocks (with an emphasis on cod) in Eastern Canada and the rebuilding of sustainable fisheries based on those stocks - http://www.frcc-ccrh.ca.
STATE OF THE GULF OF MAINE REPORT
The Gulf of Maine Council on the Marine Environment has released the first of two theme papers on contaminants for the State of the Gulf of Maine Report. The paper titled 'Microbial Pathogens and Biotoxins' presents the issue and describes trends, impacts, and responses to pathogens and toxins in the Gulf of Maine. STATUS OF AQUATIC HABITATS IN THE GULF OF MAINE
The Gulf of Maine Council's EcoSystem Indicator Partnership (ESIP) has released an Aquatic Habitats Fact Sheet. The fact sheet summarizes data from the Gulf of Maine for three key indicators: eelgrass, salt marsh, and tidal restrictions. It introduces the concept of indicators as a means for tracking change and provides examples on how this habitat data can be accessed and used for planning and decision-making purposes – http://www2.gulfofmaine.org/esip.
BLUEPRINT FOR OCEAN AND COASTAL SUSTAINABILITY
The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) have jointly prepared the paper titled "Blueprint for Ocean and Coastal Sustainability". OCEANS AT RIO+20: ASSESSMENT
A Global Ocean Forum report assesses progress achieved in the implementation of international commitments emanating from the 1992 UN Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) and the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) related to oceans, coasts, and small islands. It also puts forth recommendations for addressing oceans at the Rio+20 Conference. CLIMATE CHANGE DECISION MAKING
The World Resources Institute, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Bank have released the latest edition of the report titled "Decision Making in a Changing Climate: Adaptation Challenges and Choices". BUILDING ISLAND RESILIENCE
The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has released a report titled "Building Island Resilience" which provides an overview of the activities of the small island developing States (SIDS) Platform. - A peer-reviewed study, commissioned by NOAA, concludes that the American people allocate an estimated total economic value of $34 billion for the coral reefs surrounding the main Hawaiian Islands.
